Buenos Aires Sight-Seeing

"The Paris of Latin America". There are many locations to sight-see in this beautiful European-Latin city.

Locations to sight-see, places to visit

  • Obelisque- The landmark of Buenos Aires situated in the center of 9 de Julio street and Corrientes. Protect your camera from being grabbed out of your hand if you are there taking a photo- I recommend not to.

  • La Boca and Caminito- The colorful small houses line up the streets of Caminito. Restaurants that have tango shows and souvenir shops. A place catered to tourists.

  • San Telmo- The old neighborhood with lots of antique shops and vendors on the street. Go on Sunday when there are tango dancers and live musicians on the streets.

  • Recoleta- The newer area of Buenos Aires with clean streets and fancy buildings and shops. There is a feria in the park on Saturday and Sunday which sells many artesanal items at reasonable rates- great for buying souvenirs. The cemetery of Recoleta is also a place to visit.

  • Palermo Viejo & Palermo Soho & Palermo Hollywood- Take a walk through these lovely streets lined with small boutique shops of clothing, shoes, accessories, knick-knacks, books, music etc. You'll find the latest trends of Buenos Aires there. The cafes and restaurants in these areas are great!

  • Palermo Park- If you just want to lay in the sun and check out a mini rose garden.

  • Puerto Madero- The new port area. Nice expensive restaurants... Nice for a date at night but be careful and stay where the population is...

  • MALBA- The modern museum of art in Buenos Aires.

  • Teatro Colon- One of the oldest theaters in Buenos Aires. Extravagant, lavish, and prestigious. They have a whole costume department in the building. The tours to see the inside of the theater take about an hour long.

  • Calle Florida- A more touristic street with boutique brand shops and some street musicians and dancers.

  • Abasto- A big shopping mall known in the area of tango.

  • Theaters on Corrientes street- Take a ride thru Corrientes to see many local theaters lined up.

  • Tigre- An excurtion out of the center of Buenos Aires. Take a train to Tigre to catch a boat around the river. Great for the summer time!

  • Feria de Matadero- Take a trip to Matadero on Saturday to see a lively village festival. Tons of Argentine folk music and dancing (such as chacarera) going on.
